Make-up removal is an extremely important part of evening skincare routine. Most girls devote lots of time and attention to applying make-up and improving the appearance. Sadly, they don’t show the same enthusiasm after a busy day and take it off hurriedly. Let me tell you why proper make-up removal is critical for skin health and how to do it correctly.
Why is removing make-up so big?
Zits, pigmentation spots, super-dry skin may be the effects of incorrectly-removed make-up at bedtime. Make-up removal isn’t merely about taking products off. It also involves freeing the face of dust, toxins, pollutants, sweat, oil – in other words, all things that attack the skin during the day. Once you realize that, you won’t be able to put a dirty face on a clean pillow ever again. Devoting more time at bedtime and doing it right really pays off. Your skin will be grateful! The face will look radiant while blemishes, zits and spots will be gone! Sounds tempting?
Correctly-performed make-up removal routine
- Micellar water is first to go. I get some product on a cotton round and clean the face. Shockingly, many of you finish the routine with this step, which is a huge mistake. Micellar water must be rinsed with water. Otherwise, it will dry out, irritate and overburden your complexion.
- Next, let’s move on to thorough cleansing. Use water and your favorite cleanser – emulsion, gel or foam. Make sure your face wash is free from dehydrating substances like strong detergents (SLS, ALS). This stage allows us to fully remove make-up and dirt.
- Time for a skin toner! This product is extremely essential yet often skipped. A toner balances pH and helps active substances penetrate the skin, plus soothes and moisturizes the complexion. Note: you don’t need to or even shouldn’t rinse toner out.
- Finally, apply your favorite serum and moisturizer.
Two Extra Useful Tips
Eye area needs tender care
Pay a lot of attention to eye make-up removal: the skin around the eyes is very delicate. Close the eyes, gently press a cotton round to the eyelid and keep it for a moment. Micellar water dissolves make-up without rubbing – in other words, without irritations and pulled-out lashes.
Makeup removing wipes to use in emergency
Makeup removing wipes come to the rescue when you’re in travel and forgot your products or you are too exhausted to go through the descent evening routine. Just use them in real emergencies. They are rather universal and fail to cleanse the complexion fully. Irritations are possible too.
