I’ve just finished testing face serums that soothe and deal with all common concerns of couperose skin. Some products suit my skin just perfectly, some needed more time to deliver the promised results, and others turned out to be a complete disaster! For this post I selected only the best four products that worked for me. Keep reading to see my personal crème de la crème of anti-redness face serums.
How to handle couperose skin on a day-to-day basis
The very first thing that you have to keep in mind is to prevent skin from irritation. Yes, I know that it’s easier said than done but this is the cardinal rule that must be followed. There are days that I’m tempted by some new products, only to regret applying them to my face later. Sometimes, even if I put on a product just once, redness and irritation appear immediately and my skin burns so much… However, what drives me nuts the most is a situation when I eat something spicy. Instead of enjoying the food, I start feeling this nasty burning sensation on my skin, which is a pity because I love hot dishes. Naturally, for the sake of my appearance, I had to cut down on eating them. While talking about the diet, I also almost completely eliminated alcohol – it dilates blood vessels, causing spider veins and redness. Secondly, once your skin is protected and when you limit the triggers, it’s time to reach for a care product, which is an anti-redness face serum. This cosmetic is able to make a huge difference in the way your skin looks and feels – I’m not kidding!
My 6-month test of anti-redness face serums
Now, when my test is over, I’m more than happy to show you all the pluses and minuses of each product. Naturally, I’ll present to you the effects these 4 products gave me, but I’ll also take a closer look at the formula. In general, I’ll express my general impression that each of the products made. Sit back and enjoy reading!
My top 4 face serums for couperose skin
1. Nanoil, Anti-Redness Face Serum
This serum turned out to suit my skin best, hands down. If you aren’t keen on experimenting and want to buy just one do-it-all product, I’d recommend Nanoil, Anti-Redness Face Serum. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the effects.
PROS: The effects are what I love about this serum most. The second I put Anti-Redness Face Serum on my face, I feel a really pleasant chilly sensation and my skin feels relaxed. I also noticed that ever since I introduced this serum into my beauty routine, my face isn’t so reactive. This means that I can eat spicy food without turning red! WIN! It can’t be denied, Nanoil serum targets weak blood vessels to fix them. The longer I used it, the brighter spider veins were getting, and now they are barely noticeable. This effect is owed to chestnut extract that penetrates the skin. I also noticed that fine lines that I had on my forehead are now less visible, which was something I didn’t even expect to get. As I learnt later, this effect is owed to the Indian punarnava plant – a natural antioxidant that rejuvenates skin and defies aging. Good news is that Nanoil Anti-Redness Face Serum won’t ruin your budget because the bottle holds as much as 50 ml of this amazing anti-redness serum.
CONS: To be honest, I couldn’t find this serum in any of my favorite drugstores. I’m not sure if it’s out of stock. However, I bought it from www.nanoil.us
2. Medik8, CalmWise Serum
The Medik8 anti-redness serum is another good choice to fight easily irritated skin. Despite having many skin benefits, it also has one big drawback.
PROS: This face serum is brilliant when it comes to repairing weak blood vessels and fighting rosacea. After a couple of days of consistent use, you will see that these blemishes are less problematic and the skin tone is evened out. It also deals with acne thanks to sage extract, which has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. Usually I apply Medik8 CalmWise Serum topically, focusing only on the blotchy areas, but a few times I spread it also all over my face. I like the velvety and pleasant texture that absorbs into the skin very quickly without leaving any oily feel on the surface.
CONS: What breaks my heart is that this serum is sold only in a 15-ml bottle which doesn’t last me long. I’d buy this face serum more often, if the price was lower. Besides, I hate small packaging because this is one of the reasons for our problems with waste management. We need to minimize the impact on the environment by buying stuff responsibly.
3. COSRX, Pure Fit Cica Serum
COSRX is one of my fave cosmetic brands, and I think I always have one of their products in my bathroom – they have saved my skin so many times. Here is what I like and dislike about Pure Fit Cica Serum.
PROS: Application of this serum gives the instant feeling of relief, which always puts me in a good mood. This serum is formulated with panthenol and Indian pennywort which replenishes water, reduces the problem of inflamed skin and leaves it more resistant to external factors. I don’t apply more than two drops at a time because only this little is required to cover my entire face with this serum. I prefer to put it on at bedtime but if you want to you can use it in the morning without worrying that it will ruin your makeup. The serum comes in a standard 30 ml bottle. The price isn’t off-putting.
CONS: Even though COSRX Pure Fit Cica Serum gives similar effects to the two above-mentioned face serums, it feels that you need to wait longer to see the improvement.
4. REN, Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum
And now is the time for the last anti-redness face serum. REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum does a lot of good but it also has a couple of things that I don’t find as positive features.
PROS: This serum grants protection from external factors and irritants, thus it reduces redness. Apart from that, this serum also minimizes the appearance of blood vessels thanks to several ingredients that fix the walls of weak capillaries from within. In general, to me this anti-redness skincare product delivers good results and it takes a few weeks for them to show up. When it comes to the instant effects, REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum leaves skin a little bit brighter and relaxed.
CONS: I find it somehow difficult to spread it all over my face. Besides, my skin needs more time to absorb this serum than it does with other products I listed today, and that’s why I use it only at bedtime. Even though it has 30 ml, its price is higher when compared to the other face serums I reviewed for you today.
That’s pretty all I wanted to tell you today. I hope I managed to make your choice easier.
Let me know which face serum works for you best. I’m curious if you have ever used any of the products I mentioned today.
